Call me David, or Dave, or Dave-o. It's all the same to me. I am a 1997 graduate of Linfield College, a liberal arts institute in the small metropolis of McMinnville, Oregon (population 22,000 and doubling often). I earned a B.A. in Art and minored in European Studies. Some people I know earned a BS in their B.S. I lived in Canterbury and Nottingham, England during Fall Term 1995 of my sophomore year, and traveled throughout Western Europe. I think it would be nice to one day freelance design for an international clientele, and perhaps even live in Europe. I currently work at News-Register Design Services building ads, web pages and doing a variety of other tasks, including turning on all the Macs when I arrive every morning. I'm always busy, but it's a great place to work, and I learn something new every day. A couple weeks ago, I even found out that Error 11 is best friends with my Mac. I just wish it wouldn't visit so often.
On August 9, 1997, I'm getting married to Virginia Zander. We met at Linfield a few weeks into our freshman year. She's great... she even managed to interest me in learning French (I still don't know if that was a good idea or not. At any rate, si vous le parlez, regardez cette page en français!) While (supposedly) studying in Europe, we met up in Paris one weekend in September. We even wound up under the Eiffel Tower... which is where I asked her to marry me. It's funny how Paris does that to so many people. Anyway, I was hungry after she finally said "oui!" I went to get a steak-frites... she went to buy a wedding magazine! Our lives have forever been changed by this event! For the better, of course.
Looking at it all in the big picture, I'd have to say that I like fun, and lots of it. That's partly why I made this site. To me, design is a form of creative problem solving. A layout is no different than a jigsaw puzzle waiting to be finished. All the elements have a place, and it's only a matter of finding the right look in order to solve the design. Organizing can be fun at times, but just don't ask me to show you my bedroom.

Let me know what you think of this site. Is it good? Bad? Pretentious? I want you, the viewer, to get a feel for my talents by what can be found on these pages. If you like what you see, please click on the fun-looking teal text directly below on the right, and send me a message. On a serious note, I want to use my skills to help other people in any way possible. As I just finished college, my head is full of $80,000 of art babble and complex design theory, some of which is not yet paid for! I'd love a chance to put it to use, and make people happy at the same time.
